House of Lords Brexit Debate

Description

Pearce Robinson made history as the first Trinidad & Tobago citizen to address the British House of Lords. The most experienced youth leaders from across the Commonwealth gathered at Westminster to debate the challenges that the United Kingdom faces for international relations in the 21st century. He argued that the U.K. should place the commonwealth as its central strategic alliance and leverage its unique geopolitical position to further enhance the liberal international architecture, promoting democracy, free market capitalism and universal rights. The motion Mr. Robinson championed in the House of Lords was passed with a significant majority, 113 votes in favour of Perspective 1. Which is the idea that the U.K.’s foreign policy should focus on working alongside its global partners to achieve its regional aims.
